Some tips for cyclists and walkers…..
Be Safe! · Make sure your bike is in good repair. · Wear high visibility clothing and a safety helmet. · Plan your route to avoid heavy traffic. · Parents — accompany your children unless you are confident they are old enough and experienced enough. · Do not cycle in bunches which poses a traffic hazard. · Read and obey the highway code. |

Waiting for the Results |
|
It’s a nerve-racking time now waiting for the results. The hundreds of riders and walkers have to gather in their sponsorship money and send it in - not usually a speedy process! A result will be announced early in 2012 .
Thank you to all who took part this year - and to all who sponsored a rider or walker. The money raised will be used to help fund repairs to churches in the two counties.
Bike’n Hike 2012 will be on Saturday 8 September |

You can now collect sponsorships through your own Trust web page on Just Giving. Click here to make up your sponsorship page. It’s simple to do. |

Counting is still going on, but by the end of December 2011, the total had topped £100,000! |

“Thank you to all the people who worked hard to organise and run annual Bike’n Hike event. I currently work for National Express trains and this event provides me with a wonderful excuse to plan a cycle route that not only takes in as many churches as possible, but also provides me with good opportunity to explore some of the interesting places that my railway company serves. For 2011, I started my journey at Roydon in Essex and cycled to my home town of Hitchin travelling via Stansted Abbots, Ware, Hertford, Watton at Stone, Stevenage and Ickleford, visiting 34 churches on the way. The welcome I received from the people at the churches along the way was superb, everyone was so friendly and the refreshments were much appreciated. For many years now my work colleagues have been very generous in sponsoring me each year and last year I read in our staff newsletter, that I could apply to the National Express Employee Fund, for a company sponsorship as well and was pleased to be granted an additional £150 in sponsorship for the BHHCT, from the National Express Employee Fund. This brought the total that I raised in 2011 up to a total of £376”. Well done Stephen!
